The National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB) announces the successful sale of 31 unique coffee lots at the Best of Rwanda 2026 online auction, with the highest lot fetching US$452 per kilogram, which is 66 times higher than the average current international market price of Rwanda coffee exports.
Evariste KARANGWA, Owner of K-Organics Ltd, welcomed the achievement, highlighting its potential to strengthen quality coffee production and improve community livelihoods through reinvestment in quality farming practices.
“This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication we put into producing quality coffee. This recognition will allow me to invest in quality coffee farming activities, hence ensuring even higher quality coffee in the future and improve my community’s livelihood through coffee.” He noted.
The auction attracted international buyers from Europe, Asia, USA and Africa. Top 31 lots sold in auction were selected from 320 coffee lots from across the country, after three rounds of sensory evaluation by national and international jurors.
“This achievement demonstrates the potential of collaboration among producers, exporters, partners and other stakeholders in advancing quality, traceability and sustainability. The US$452 per-kilogram price reflects our continued efforts to strengthen quality and traceability throughout Rwanda coffee value chain, from farm to international market,” said Claude BIZIMANA, NAEB’s Chief Executive Officer.
Best of Rwanda National Specialty Coffee Competition, an annual event organized by NAEB, aims to showcase the finest coffee produced by smallholder farmers, enhancing visibility and access to international markets. This Competition and subsequent auction reinforce Rwanda’s position as a top producer of specialty coffee.
NAEB remains committed to support farmers and expand market opportunities, ensuring that Rwanda coffee remains highly competitive in the global market and generate more foreign earnings.
