After years of traveling long distances to seek medical services at Munini District Hospital or the University Teaching Hospital of Butare (CHUB), residents of Kibeho Sector are celebrating the opening of Shammah Health Clinic, a new modern facility equipped with advanced medical equipment and skilled health professionals.

The clinic, built by Seira Community Church, was officially inaugurated on November 3, 2025. According to Bishop Mutabaruka Aphrodis, a member of the Shammah Health Clinic Board, the facility was established to support the vision of His Excellency President Paul Kagame of bringing healthcare services closer to the people.

Bimenyimana Philippe, one of the first patients to seek treatment at the new clinic, said he was extremely happy because he no longer has to travel long distances or spend much money to get medical care.

I used to take a bus and pay 750 Rwandan francs to go to Munini Hospital, but now I can walk here. There are no long queues, and within less than thirty minutes, I’ve already received the treatment I need. This is a great joy.” He shared.

Angelique, a mother from Ruramba Sector, said the clinic is a huge relief for parents.

I thank the Government of Rwanda because these services are excellent. The doctors treat patients well, and there are no long waiting lines. Before, we used to waste a lot of time waiting for treatment, but now everything is easier.” She said.

Muhawenimana Hyacente, a laboratory Scientist at Shammah Health Clinic, said this is the first private clinic in Nyaruguru District offering such advanced medical services.

Many residents used to travel to Huye, especially for dental care. Now, all those services are available here, and we have modern laboratory and diagnostic equipment.” He explained.

He also emphasized that the clinic would complement the existing Kibeho Health Center, helping reduce the distance residents previously traveled to access medical services in other areas.

Having modern dental treatment equipment here will help many residents access these services quickly and efficiently.” He said.

Dr. Murengezi reminded medical professionals that human life should never be taken lightly, urging them to continue working professionally and delivering quality services as required by the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry of Health will continue to support such initiatives but expects that healthcare services are delivered professionally and with respect for human life.” He added.
