Rwanda has signed a partnership agreement with Sandoz, a Swiss pharmaceutical company, to manufacture and supply a range of medicines, including tablets and cancer treatments.
The agreement was signed between Rwanda’s Minister of Health, Dr. Nsanzimana Sabin, and Sandoz’s Head of Transformation, Simon Goeller. Both parties agreed to strengthen cooperation aimed at improving the pharmaceutical sector and expanding access to medicines across the country.
According to information published by the Rwanda Broadcasting Agency, Sandoz will begin supplying up to 60 different types of medicines to Rwanda as part of its expansion into the African market.
This partnership is seen as a major step toward improving access to essential medicines for citizens. It also supports Rwanda’s vision of becoming a regional health hub by promoting local production of affordable medicines and vaccines, as well as enhancing healthcare services, including those that previously required patients to seek treatment abroad.
The agreement follows a visit to Rwanda in October 2025 by a Sandoz delegation led by Simon Goeller, during which both sides held discussions on potential collaboration. The delegation also engaged with the Rwanda Development Board on investment opportunities.
