Patrick Namenye, the former Secretary General of Rayon Sports Football Club, has been appointed the Managing Director (MD) of SK FM, replacing Jean Maurice Uwera, who was recently named Deputy Spokesperson of the government of Rwanda.

SK FM announced the appointment on the night of Thursday, February 5, 2026, welcoming a man widely known in Rwanda’s football circles. Patrick last drew public attention in 2024 when he stepped down from his role as Secretary General of Rayon Sports, a position he had held for two years.

During his time at Rayon Sports, he played a key role in securing various sponsors for the club, having previously been in charge of marketing and commercial affairs.

His background in communication dates back seven years, when he worked at the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI) in its agricultural information and communication Center (CICA). In addition to his involvement in sports, agriculture and livestock remain other areas of professional engagement for him.

Speaking to pureafricanews.com, Patrick shared his feelings and commitments towards the new position at SK FM.

“I am deeply honored by the trust the Board of Directors of SK FM has placed in me. I am committed to working tirelessly to ensure this media house achieves its strategic vision and continues to lead in the industry.

Namenye began his journalism career in 2013 at Radio Salus, where he worked for slightly over a year. This University of Rwanda radio station laid the foundation for his career in journalism and nurtured his passion for the profession, particularly in sports programs and other English-language broadcasts.

SK FM broadcasts on 93.9 FM and 92.6 FM. The station, owned by renowned sports journalist Sam Karenzi, is just four days away from marking its first anniversary since launching operations in Rwanda on February 10, 2025.
