As part of efforts to promote Rwandan values and strengthen unity and resilience, Nyaruguru District organized Ndi Umunyarwanda discussions for school leaders from across the district.
The discussions were officially opened by Dr. Emmanuel Murwanashyaka, the Mayor of Nyaruguru District, who reminded school leaders that their responsibility goes beyond administration they must also serve as role models in their mindset and daily conduct.
He spoke:“Dirty hands spread dirt, but clean hands bring cleanliness. We must be pure in our thinking, in our actions, and in the way we fulfill our duties.”
Dr. Murwanashyaka went on to urge the school leaders to uphold Rwandan cultural values and taboos, to raise a generation free from discrimination, and to address anything that threatens the spirit of Rwandanness. He emphasized that school leaders play a key role in shaping the moral and social well-being of students and teachers based on unity, patriotism, and love for the nation.

During the session, Pastor Kabalisa Anicet from the Apostolic Church, who led a presentation on Ndi Umunyarwanda, called on school leaders to continue building unity and resilience within their schools and to implement the Ndi Umunyarwanda program as a “balm and covenant” that connects all Rwandans wherever they are.
“Strive to promote unity and resilience in the schools you lead, and put into action the Ndi Umunyarwanda program as a healing bond that unites Rwandans.” He spoke.

Some school leaders shared that such discussions help them better understand their responsibilities in nurturing the younger generation and protecting national unity. They committed to integrating these lessons into teaching, mentorship, and civic education activities.
Dr. Murwanashyaka emphasized that school leaders must be true Rwandans and exemplary leaders, serving as the key to building a nation free from division. He encouraged them to remain pillars of unity and resilience, given their vital role in raising the country’s future generation.
Nyaruguru District continues to prioritize the Ndi Umunyarwanda initiative across all sectors, particularly in education, to foster a generation grounded in unity, integrity, and patriotism.
