During a two-day exhibition showcasing development partners in Kicukiro District, local authorities expressed gratitude to these partners for their vital role in the district’s development efforts, all of which prioritize the well-being of citizens.

The event, held at the Kicukiro District headquarters, featured displays of various products and services provided by both public institutions and development partners. It also included an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding contributors and leaders.

Antoine Mutsinzi, the Kicukiro District Executive Administrator, commended the partners for their collaboration and tangible contributions to the district’s progress.

He stated:

I want to emphasize the power of collaboration and the results it brings. According to data from the seventh Integrated Household Living Conditions Survey (EICV7), Kicukiro ranked second nationwide in poverty reduction. This shows significant progress compared to previous figures. We sincerely thank you for your contribution to this achievement, and we encourage continued collaboration to improve the lives of our citizens.”

He also acknowledged the commitment and resilience of fellow partners in advancing the district’s development goals.

As partners, we focus on the district’s priorities. Recently, we all mobilized to combat malnutrition, address the issue of children living on the streets, and support unemployed graduates. Despite ongoing economic challenges, our work continues to yield meaningful results.”

Claudine Muhoza, a resident of Nyamwijima Village in Ayabaraya Cell, Masaka Sector, expressed her gratitude for the district’s consistent support aimed at improving residents’ livelihoods.

She said:

“We are very thankful to the local authorities for providing us with a cow. It is now pregnant, and soon we will have milk and even sell some to pay for health insurance and meet other household needs. We’ve also received fertilizer to boost our crop yields. Once the cow gives birth, our nutrition will improve. I especially thank our President for this generous program.”

At the close of the event, awards were given to the most outstanding partners, as well as to the sectors and cells that excelled in promoting citizen development, particularly in encouraging savings for a better future.

The top-performing cells were Gahanga, Nyanza, and Nunga.

In the area of good governance, Nyarugunga Sector was honored as the top performer.

Partners were also recognized for their role in combating malnutrition and stunting. A 2020 study identified Kicukiro as the district with the lowest rate of child stunting in Rwanda. Furthermore, partners contributed significantly to poverty reduction initiatives such as cow donations and job creation. In the 2024/2025 fiscal year, partners helped in new jobs creation where 16,123 new jobs created, surpassing the target of 16,100.
