An exhibition bringing together 76 development partners is currently taking place in Nyamagabe District, showcasing various activities including agriculture, livestock farming, tailoring, handicrafts, and other services provided to residents.
The exhibition aims to put citizens at the center of development, in line with the five-year National Strategy for Transformation (NST2), which runs through 2029, with a focus on sustainable development.
Participants say the exhibition provides a valuable opportunity to meet others engaged in different activities, exchange experiences, and improve areas where they previously faced challenges.
Musabyemariya Jacqueline, a resident from Cyanika Sector who exhibited handmade woven bags, said the event helps her attract new customers.
“When I come here, I find many new customers because some people did not know about my work. I wish such exhibitions could be organized more often or even at the sector level.” She spoke.
Muhamwenimana Solange, who specializes in mushroom farming, also highlighted the benefits of participating.
“Many people didn’t know that I grow mushrooms. When I participate in exhibitions like this, my market expands because more people learn about what I do.” She explained.
Nsanzimana Appolinaire, who has been making shoes for six years, said the exhibition helps him grow his business beyond Tare Sector.
“It’s a good opportunity to gain new customers and understand current market trends. I hope such exhibitions can also be organized in rural areas so we can reach even more residents.” He spoke.
Thadee Habimana, Vice Mayor of Nyamagabe District in charge of economic development, said the exhibition demonstrates good governance by showing citizens what is being done for them and explaining how it is carried out.
“It is a way of showing residents what we are doing for them and explaining how it works. It also allows them to raise concerns or ask questions about things they don’t understand.” He spoke.
He added that the exhibition helps residents recognize opportunities available within their district instead of seeking them elsewhere.

Regarding requests from exhibitors to increase the frequency of the event or organize it at the sector level, he noted that district authorities, together with partners, will continue discussions to explore how this can be implemented.
Mutabazi Byinshi Edouard, Chair of the Social Affairs Commission within the Joint Action Development Forum (JADF) of Nyamagabe District, said the main objective is to put citizens first and help them move from one level of development to another.
“Our goal is to ensure that residents improve their livelihoods. This includes support in accessing community-based health insurance (Mutuelle), combating child stunting, returning children to school, and changing mindsets. Development requires collaboration and a shift in mindset.” He said.
The exhibition began on February 19 and will run through February 21, 2026. It has already demonstrated its significant role in bringing together partners and residents to promote sustainable development and improved living standards in Nyamagabe District.
